Prepared A Table Before Me - Fighter Verse Reflection: Psalm 23:5-6

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the LordForever.

Psalm 23:5-6 (NKJV)

Amen. The God of the universe does not forsake us. Even when our enemies are pressing in, cursing us, threatening everything we have, our Holy God prepares a table for us. He is not phased by the troubles that are before us, and in his sovereignty and righteousness, he makes sure we are blessed. He anoints us with the oil of grace and holiness and gives us an overflowing provision. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…” This is not an expression masking self-doubt, or arrogantly taking claim to the blessings of the Lord, but rather it is the truth. That God’s love is inescapable for those who trust in him. His blessings will always be right there and his grace is always superior to our unworthiness. For in the presence of our enemies he dearly takes care of us and makes us holy. And we will dwell in the glorious house of the Lord Forever.
