Nine Pound To Go Box - 2 Corinthians 9:8 (Fighter Verse Reflection)

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Cor 9:8

Last week our fighter verse was on generosity. (Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Cor 9:6-7)

This week our Fighter Verse is a continuation of those verses. Right after Paul instructs us that we are to sow bountifully and that God loves a cheerful giver, he reminds us that we cannot out give God. All that we may sow will come back in abundance. A farmer sows a single seed but the plant produces much more fruit in the long run. God’s grace is like that. When we know that our lives and resources are like that seed, and we believe that God will always sufficiently supply us with our needs, then we can live in a way that at all times and in all things we can abound (be plentiful, overflow with, teem) with every good work.

Have you ever given something to someone with ease because you had a lot of it? Maybe you had a ton of left overs from a Thanksgiving meal so you generously pack your guest's styrofoam to go containers to the brim because you have sufficient amounts of turkey and cranberry sauce for yourself. It’s easy to give when you abound with something. God’s grace abounds to the Christian. We have copious amounts of it. So much that it should be a joy and easy to give it away. Where has he been gracious? Where will he be gracious? He is gracious enough that we have all sufficiency in all things at all times: Money, self-worth, love, mercy, kindness, truth, justice, and in all things the Christian teems, or abounds. There is nothing that we can give away that we could expect to lose. God’s grace is indeed priceless, but it isn’t rare - it overflows, so give without fear.
